Greetings from the beautiful mountain country of Southwest Virginia, and welcome to my personal web site that I first put online through our local ISP, LSNet, on August 23, 2000.  I am your host, Donald Trausneck, a proud Veteran of The United States Navy and a Life Member of VFW Post 1115, Hillsville.  I live in this beautiful area with my Mom, Harriet Trausneck, and two curious cats.
I will tell you just a little about myself, to save my cat Marshmallow the trouble of telling you the whole story. As stated earlier, I am a United States Navy veteran and most of my work revolves around The Veterans of Foreign Wars of The United States. That is what takes up much of my time.
I serve as the Adjutant/Quartermaster for Grover King VFW Post 1115, the largest and most active civic organization in the little town of Hillsville, Virginia. Statewide, Post 1115 also is one of the largest -- and definitely the most active -- of all VFW Posts in Virginia.  I am also the Public Affairs and Information Officer for the Post and I have held several offices and committee chairs for the 5th District, Department of Virginia, as well as some VFW State positions.
For a hobby, I am a Civil War re-enactor. I have been the Hospital Steward for the 83rd Pennsylvania / 24th Virginia Infantry Regiments and now I portray a period civilian and "War Correspondent."  Also, I love to attend Scottish Highland Games, particularly Loch Norman in
North Carolina.  Another favorite hobby of mine is flying. I have flown all over the world in my Cessna and I also have been at the controls of a 737 -- all without leaving the comfort of my own living room (thanks to Microsoft Flight Simulator).
If you want to know more about me or about the family, just let Marshmallow
tell you everything by clicking on her paw print at the right:
